Spring Show

The Teelin Spring Show is an opportunity to present dances from each of the classes at Teelin School of Irish Dance and from the Teelin Irish Dance Company. There will be two shows (on the same day), and each class is scheduled to perform in ONE of the shows.

Answers to Frequently Asked Questions:

What costume will my dancer wear in the Spring Show?
A summary of student costumes and class performance information is available at this link (password-protected, access for Teelin families only).

IMPORTANT: There will be a “Costumes in Classes Week” (like a dress rehearsal) in all classes except the competition classes the week of Apr 24-28.

In which show is my class performing? In Act 1 or Act 2 of that show?
For the list of class assignments to either the 1pm or 5pm show, please see this document – 2017 Spring Show Class Assignments

The class assignment document is NOT the set list. The set list will be published as soon as it it available, and will indicate which dance will be performed in which act of each show. (You’ll need that information for student tickets, so the set list will be published in time for ticket sales.)

HONOR ROLL DANCE (both shows)
Dancers who qualified for the World Championships and/or have been podium placers at Oireachtas or majors this year will perform in the Honor Roll dance in the Teelin Spring Show. (No signup required.)
Rehearsal: Saturday, Apr 29, 4:00-5:00pm

When is the Dress Rehearsal?
Dress Rehearsals will be held at the Jim Rouse Theater on Saturday, May 6. Some rehearsals will also be held Sunday morning, too. More information about the rehearsal schedule will be posted here when available.

How can I get tickets to the Teelin Spring Show?
Tickets will be on sale in the studio, and also at the door if the shows are not sold out. Ticket sale information will be posted here when it is available.

How can I help?
Thanks for asking!  ;-)  All volunteer signups will be posted here when available.

A parent volunteer from each Beginner, Beg II, Level 1, Level 2 or 3, and AB/N or N/PW Teelin class is needed to assist backstage. The job entails coming to the Dress Rehearsal, and also staying backstage for the show on Saturday. This person does NOT need to purchase a ticket. They WILL be able to see their child’s dance performance either from the side stage or by going into the audience. Each “class parent” will be asked to keep the class together, help young dancers with costume and shoe issues, line them up to go on stage, and make sure that their parent/guardian picks them up when finished.

Additional volunteers are needed to assist with other aspects of the Spring Show, including Will Call Window, Concessions, Flower Sales, and Merchandise.

Teelin relies heavily on volunteers for big events like the Spring Show, and we are extremely grateful for your assistance…. THANK YOU!!!

Baked goods, whether they are homemade or store bought, are always a nice addition to the concessions table at a show! Anyone willing to donate individually wrapped snacks for the bake sale, please bring your individually wrapped items to drop them off at the bake sale table before your show begins. Thank you!

Will the Teelin Spring Show be filmed?
Yes. Each show will be professionally filmed, and will be available for purchase.

Can my dancer watch the show?
Any student planning to watch part of the show from the audience must purchase a student ticket. All seats in the theater require tickets. Therefore…

Yes, your dancer may watch the show but only the half of the show that they are not performing in. So if your dancer is in Act 1, during intermission they may leave backstage and watch Act 2. If your dancer is in Act 2, they can watch Act 1 and then come backstage during intermission and then perform in Act 2.

There will be a “Student Section” with reserved seating for dancers who are only watching one Act of the show. (Must be at least 7; younger dancers asked to sit with parents.)

Are professional pictures taken?
Professional pictures will NOT be offered. Our experience has been that offering pictures during the dress rehearsal takes a lot of time and coordination and often puts the dress rehearsal off schedule. Parents are encouraged to take a class photo with your own camera during the “Costumes in Classes” week.

On the day of the show, when do I need to be at the theater and what besides costume & shoes do I need to bring?
Here are general guidelines, and more information will be sent by email as the event nears…

1:00pm Show – Dancers should arrive by 12noon.
5:00pm Show – Dancers should arrive by 4:00pm.

IMPORTANT: The theater is very strict about no food in the dressing rooms or anywhere backstage, not even small snacks. Water will be provided for dancers backstage.

For dancers who are performing in both shows, you may bring a snack or light meal in a cooler or other container separate from your dance bag and clearly marked with your name. Upon arrival, drop this off at the tables on Main Street.

Young dancers are encouraged to bring an activity for backstage down time.
