Sharing Sad News...

Obituary –

We are very saddened to share with you that a member of our Teelin community, Erin Tervo, passed away very unexpectedly on Sunday evening, September 6, 2015. Please join us in sending thoughts and prayers for comfort to Erin’s husband, Jon, and to their three daughters, and to all of her family and friends.

All three of Erin’s daughters are Teelin dancers, and Erin herself danced in the Adult classes at Teelin.

Families and friends are frequently connected by intricate webs of ties to each other. The Tervo family is connected to several tightly-knit communities, and Erin’s loss is felt deeply by so many. In addition to her Teelin Irish Dance connections, Erin was a middle school math teacher at St. John the Baptist Catholic School in Silver Spring, and her daughters attend St. Louis Catholic School in Clarksville, where they are also parishioners. In addition to her husband and three young daughters, Erin is also survived by both of her parents, her four siblings and their families, and her in-laws (Jon’s parents and family).

Opportunities to Help...

A scholarship fund has been established in Erin’s name at the school where she taught. (Erin also attended this grade school when she was young.) Donations may be sent to:

Erin Tervo Memorial Scholarship Fund
St. John the Baptist Catholic School
12319 New Hampshire Avenue
Silver Spring, MD 20904

Many Irish dance families have asked if they may be able to offer a donation to cover some of the dance class tuition for Erin’s three daughters. Thank you for your compassionate and generous response, it is truly appreciated!

Donations for the Tervo family’s dance class tuition may be sent by checks payable to:

Teelin School of Irish Dance
9303 Sandra Park Road
Perry Hall, MD 21128

Every donation will be matched by Teelin, and credited to the Tervo family’s account in their student records. A list of donors will be provided to the Tervo family, unless a request is made for an anonymous donation.

(Please note for tax purposes that Teelin School does not have non-profit status. Your kindness to the Tervo family is much appreciated.)
