LOCAL IRISH DANCE COMPANY CELEBRATES ST. PATRICK’S DAY WITH A BROADWAY QUALITY SHOW AT THE WEINBERG CENTER FOR THE ARTS
Teelin Irish Dance Company is pleased to announce its return to the Weinberg Center for the Arts, with their latest production, Celtic Storm, just in time for St. Patrick’s Day! This show celebrates Irish culture with locally renowned musicians while dancers perform traditional steps with an innovative style. This year’s show includes prominent musicians Tony DeMarco, Josh Dukes and Zan McLeod. Teelin Irish Dance Company is known for performances that accentuate the energy of Irish dance with cutting-edge choreography. See the reason that Director Maureen Berry has earned numerous choreography awards, including the Individual Artist award for Choreography from the Maryland State Arts Council (MSAC).
The Weinberg Center for the Arts will present Celtic Storm, featuring the Teelin Irish Dance Company on Saturday, February 25, 2017, at 4:00pm at the Weinberg Center for the Arts in Frederick, Maryland.
Teelin Irish Dance Company has been producing and featuring in Broadway quality shows in the Baltimore and Metro DC area annually since 2006, and has a reputation for enthralling audience members with innovative performances that accentuate the high energy of Irish dance. The first such show was Portraits of Ireland, which ran for six successful years, and was presented at venues including the Baltimore Museum of Art, Chesapeake Arts Center, Stephen’s Hall at Towson University, Weinberg Center for the Arts in Frederick, and Maryland Hall for the Creative Arts in Annapolis. In 2012, Teelin’s production of StepDance debuted to a sold out audience in a 1200-seat venue at the Weinberg Center for the Arts in Frederick, and had its final run at the Lyric Opera House in Baltimore in 2013. Sláinte then premiered in 2014 at the Jim Rouse Theatre in Columbia and in 2015, Teein showcased audience favorites from the past decade at the Weinberg. Celtic Storm, which debuted last year at the Weinberg, is the newest show in a prestigious line of productions, and features some of the best Irish Dancers in the Southern U.S. region, including a World Champion and two North American Champions, and many dancers who will be competing in early April at the CLRG World Irish Dancing Championships in Dublin, Ireland.

Teelin Irish Dance Company is based in Columbia, Maryland, under the direction of Maureen Berry, TCRG, a 1997 graduate of Towson University with a BFA in Dance Performance, and former principal dancer with Footworks Percussive Dance Ensemble. Teelin Irish Dance Company will also be performing at various events across Central Maryland throughout the St. Patrick’s Day season.
